Google expands AI agent access and BigQuery capabilities, empowering partners to innovate and accelerate AI-driven solutions.
Google is expanding access to specialized artificial intelligence agents and introducing new AI capabilities within BigQuery. These advancements are designed to empower solution providers who utilize Google Cloud's technology in their service offerings and customer interactions. Yasmeen Ahmad, managing director of data and analytics at Google, highlighted that partners are particularly interested in broader access to Gemini data agents. She emphasized Google Cloud's commitment to being an "AI-first cloud," stating, "We are now putting that GenAI to work across the Google Cloud Platform to give the best possible destination experience for customers looking for an AI-first cloud. These innovations have helped, again, drive why Google Cloud is the premier destination for all data AI workloads."
Ryan Salva, senior director of product management at Google, noted that these new tools will enable thousands of partners in Google's ecosystem to deliver software with increased speed and quality. He also mentioned that gaining proficiency with these tools can help achieve business objectives and improve profitability. Google's AI agents facilitate the development of additional intellectual property, custom prompt augmentation, and specialized integrations, allowing solution providers to stand out in a competitive market. Salva advises, "For those folks who are building on top of GCP [Google Cloud Platform], focusing on investment in building up the ecosystem and building out differentiation for your tools on top of the platform is going to give you a competitive edge against anyone else in the market."
Among the new specialized agents now in preview is Gemini CLI GitHub Actions, which can assist with triaging issues, accelerating pull request reviews, and collaborating on code implementation. Google initially launched Gemini CLI in June as a free, open-source AI agent for developer terminals. While a previous integration with GitHub focused on code reviews, this new agent broadens its capabilities to more general-purpose automation events. Salva also shared plans to make Gemini CLI more accessible, allowing developers to instantiate it as a container anywhere.
Additional agents in preview include:
- A data engineering agent in BigQuery designed to expedite data preparation for faster pipeline building.
- A data science agent in BigQuery Notebooks focused on reducing infrastructure management for users.
- A conversational analytics agent and code interpreter that allows business users and analysts to query data insights using natural language.
- A migration agent for Spanner to simplify database migration processes.
- A new API intended to enable developers to embed conversational AI experiences into their applications. BigQuery's AI query engine preview allows data practitioners to interact with and derive value from data by integrating generative AI capabilities directly into SQL. Hybrid search in BigQuery combines Google's semantic search with traditional keyword search. Furthermore, adaptive filtering in AlloyDB is expected to automatically enhance vector queries for improved speed and recall. BigQuery has also introduced autonomous embeddings generation and indexing to support large-scale analytics.
