Google Executives Say Increased Access to AI Agents, Capabilities Are Differentiators for Channel Partners
Google's expansion of specialized AI agents and new BigQuery capabilities aims to empower solution providers leveraging Google Cloud's AI and data platform. Yasmeen Ahmad, managing director of data and analytics at Google, shared during a virtual press event that services partners are among those seeking broader access to Gemini data agents. “We are now putting that GenAI to work across the Google Cloud Platform to give the best possible destination experience for customers looking for an AI-first cloud,” Ahmad said. “These innovations have helped, again, drive why Google Cloud is the premier destination for all data AI workloads.” Ryan Salva, senior director of product management at Google, emphasized that the new AI tools will enable thousands of partners in Google’s ecosystem to deliver software faster and with higher quality. “Just developing proficiency with the tools will help you achieve your business objectives and make a higher profit more easily,” Salva said. Google’s AI agents facilitate additional intellectual property development, custom prompt augmentation, and specialized integrations, allowing solution providers to differentiate themselves in the market. Salva advised, “For those folks who are building on top of GCP, focusing on investment in building up the ecosystem and building out differentiation for your tools on top of the platform is going to give you a competitive edge against anyone else in the market.” Among the new AI agents now in preview is Gemini CLI GitHub Actions, which can triage issues, accelerate pull request reviews, and collaborate on demand to write tests and implement code. Launched in June as a free, open-source AI agent, Gemini CLI integrates Gemini into developer terminals. Previously, Google’s integration with GitHub focused on code reviews, but the new agent supports more general-purpose automation events. Salva also mentioned plans to enable developers to instantiate Gemini CLI as a container anywhere. Additional agents in preview include:- Data engineering agent in BigQuery: Speeds up data preparation for faster pipeline building.
- Data science agent in BigQuery Notebooks: Reduces infrastructure management for users.
- Conversational analytics agent and code interpreter: Enables business users and analysts to query data insights using natural language.
- Migration agent for Spanner: Simplifies database migrations.
- New API: Allows developers to embed conversational AI experiences into their applications. BigQuery’s AI query engine preview integrates generative AI capabilities into SQL, allowing data practitioners to interact with data more intuitively. Hybrid search combines Google semantic search with traditional keyword search. AlloyDB’s adaptive filtering improves vector query speed and recall, while BigQuery now supports autonomous embeddings generation and indexing for large-scale analytics.
