Rubrik Launches Agent Rewind to Undo AI Agent Mistakes
Rubrik has introduced Agent Rewind, a new software solution designed to provide enterprises with visibility into AI agent actions and the ability to undo mistakes by rewinding changes made to applications and data. Announced on August 12, Agent Rewind integrates Predibase AI infrastructure—acquired by Rubrik in June 2025—with Rubrik’s recovery capabilities. This combination aims to help enterprises confidently adopt agentic AI by offering a clear process to trace, audit, and safely reverse undesired AI actions. AI agents hold significant promise but, like humans, are prone to errors that can cause major business disruptions. Recent incidents have included technical malfunctions, legal complications, and even the deletion of entire production databases. A study by Carnegie Mellon University highlighted that AI agents often become disoriented, take incorrect shortcuts, and struggle with simple multi-step tasks, exposing critical reliability flaws. Agent Rewind addresses these challenges by making AI actions visible, auditable, and reversible. It creates an audit trail and immutable snapshots that enable safe rollback of changes.Key Features of Agent Rewind
- Context-enriched visibility: Surfaces agent behavior, tool usage, and impact, while mapping each action back to its root cause—from prompts to plans to tools. This enables precise recovery when errors occur.
- Safe rollback: Utilizes Rubrik Security Cloud to rewind files, databases, configurations, or repositories altered by AI agents.
- Broad compatibility: Supports a wide range of platforms, APIs, and agent builders, including Agentforce, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and Amazon Bedrock Agents. It is also compatible with custom AI agents. Rubrik has opened a waitlist for early access to Agent Rewind, inviting enterprises to experience enhanced control and safety over AI agent operations.
