Rubrik has introduced Agent Rewind, a new software solution designed to give enterprises visibility into AI agent actions and the ability to reverse changes made to applications and data. Announced on August 12, Agent Rewind combines Rubrik’s recovery capabilities with Predibase AI infrastructure, which Rubrik acquired in June 2025. This integration aims to help enterprises confidently adopt agentic AI by providing a clear process for tracing, auditing, and safely reversing unwanted AI-driven changes.
AI agents offer substantial promise but, much like humans, can make mistakes that lead to significant business disruptions. These errors have included technical malfunctions, legal complications, and even the accidental deletion of entire production databases. Research from Carnegie Mellon University indicates that AI agents often become disoriented, take incorrect shortcuts, and struggle with multi-step tasks, highlighting critical reliability issues.
Agent Rewind addresses these challenges by making AI actions visible, auditable, and reversible. It establishes an audit trail and creates immutable snapshots, enabling safe rollbacks of any altered files, databases, configurations, or repositories.
Key features of Agent Rewind include:
- Context-enriched visibility: This feature surfaces agent behavior and tool usage, mapping each action to its root cause—from prompts to plans to tools—allowing for precise recovery when errors occur.
- Safe rollback: Utilizing Rubrik Security Cloud, Agent Rewind can revert changes made to files, databases, configurations, or repositories.
- Broad compatibility: The solution supports a wide array of platforms, APIs, and agent builders, including Agentforce, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock Agents, and custom AI agents. Rubrik has opened a waitlist for early access to Agent Rewind, encouraging enterprises to join and prepare for more secure AI agent deployments.
